Colonel William Prescott (1726–1795)...French & Indian Wars, Revolutionary War.
1775...Prescott along with 1,200 American colonists fortified Breed's Hill in an attempt to drive the British army out of Boston. Prescott was prominent in the subsequent battle that was erroneously called the battle of Bunker Hill. It was to be the first major engagement of the American Revolution. His famous quote: "Don't one of you fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" |
