The story of Leland and Jane Stanford is pretty amazing to say the least. Leland was Governor of California, one of the Railroad barons, a U.S. Senator and a very successful horse breeder. Stanford developed trotters that set 19 world records. One of his favorite trotters was Electioneer, sire of nine Palo Alto world champions. Interesting to note that this cigar label features thoroughbred racing horses not trotters. |
