Alfred Lord Tennyson was an English poet and regarded as the chief representative of the Victorian age in poetry. His poetry was initially criticized for being overly sentimental and embellished but was later praised for his skillful meter and imagery. His famous Idylls of the King (1859) was a group of poems on the glory and downfall of King Arthur. Tennyson was made poet laureate in 1850. Oh...and his two older brothers were also poets. |
