Eugene Field was an unusual poet and one of the few who wrote only children's poetry.
Eugene worked for several newspapers until he found a home at the Chicago Daily News in 1883. He wrote a humorous column called Sharps and Flats filled with his comical whimsy and eccentric imagination. Field published several works of verse and of humor including over a dozen volumes of poetry. Some of his most famous poems are Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, The Duel and Little Boy Blue. |
