Jenny Lind (1820-1887)
Originally Johanna Maria Lind - known as the "Swedish Nightingale"

Jenny trained in Stockholm and Paris, made her singing debut at the age of 18.   In September 1850, impresario P. T. Barnum brought Jenny to New York for her first American concert tour.  After 1856 she lived in England, and became professor of singing at the Royal College of Music.
